Inspired by regular trips to Europe (mostly Berlin), Scottish artist Gardner Muirhead’s work concerns itself with found imagery, colour, balance and space; reflecting his love of modernism, typography, Weimar and cold war aesthetics. Travel is integral to his creative process; He’s always searching for authentic source material in flea markets, antique shops and junk yards. He uses these found treasures - vintage magazines and print ephemera alongside his own painting, photography and printmaking to create juxtapositions, assemblage, and digital prints. This exhibition will focus on his 'analogue' work - assemblage, collage, relief printmaking and painting. |
